This scholarship
has been established in memory of Jason D. Conklin, a police officer who died in
the line of duty at the age of 22. Jason was a 1993 graduate of Monroe-Woodbury
Senior High School. He played Little League, Pop Warner Football, Basketball,
and was MVP of the High School Ski Team.
Jason had a dream of becoming a police officer, and he worked very hard to make
it reality. He attended Rockland County Community College, majoring in Criminal
Justice, while working two jobs to support himself. He was later sponsored by
the Village of Tuxedo Park Police Department to the Rockland County Police
Academy. Jason worked diligently - attending the academy during the day while
working at night to pay his own tuition, purchase uniforms, equipment, and
books. After six long months, his dream was realized and Jason became a
certified Police Officer for Tuxedo Park and as a Security Officer for IBM.
The purpose of this scholarship in Jason's name is to give someone with his
character and motivation the financial assistance to pursue a career in Law
Enforcement. Only those people with the motivation and dedication that Jason
personified will be selected for this scholarship.
